Devastation

As I write this my community and the city I live in sits and soaks in a septic, toxic stew of sewage and god knows what chemical mix after a record "flood" that has engulfed everything around us. I have "flood" in parenthesis because I really don't think that word or any word I can think of does the magnitude of this justice. I saw rushing torrents of water where there should be no water and cars floating and bobbing like corks.
Other than a bit of inconvenience due to power outage and isolation due to our location on the backside of the Harpeth river my family is fine. Unfortunately, a large number of my fellow Tennesseans can't say the same.
When I get phone service back I will take the time to post some of the photos I have and a few more stories.

We did not have it that bad here in Memphis. I am so upset by the photos that are coming from there! My son is headed that way next year to go to Vandy so he has been showing me photos from facebook and other places from there and it is just devastating. Anyway, our thoughts and prayers are with everyone there!

Thanks everybody.
I think my situation is getting back to normal with power and phones and all but every time I have to leave my house I drive through areas that are not as lucky and it's shocking to see how many people this has wiped out and the destruction it has caused.

Hi Kevin. Talked with Lee Dellinger recently and she gave me the scoop on what's been going on with you. Hope you are getting back to normal, though I know how long flood damage and evidence sticks around. We were in Floyd in 99- Rocky Mount and most of eastern NC were under feet of water. You could still see mud lines on the trees 6 months later, not to mention the debris left in them after a year or more. Hope to talk to you soon, Jimmy Craig

Your work looks as great as ever! Y'all lit a fire under me and I've been getting out as much as possible over the last several months. Can't wait to paint with you again soon!

Jimmy-Things are getting better but it's going to take awhile for things to get back as they were around here. Everybody is a bit shell shocked.
Glad you're still painting. Stay after it. Do you have a blog yet and how do I find it?
Come on over when you get a chance.
